Bernard Harbor elected PRII Life Fellow

Life Fellowship is the highest honour that the Public Relations Institute of Ireland can bestow on a member. Life Fellows, of which there are currently 32, have championed by example the highest standards and implementation of the profession of public relations. 

Bernard Harbor was elected a Life Fellow by the membership at the PRII Annual General Meeting on 8 December 2022.

With a career spanning some thirty years, Bernard has led the public relations function for some of the largest trade unions in the country, heading up communications at IMPACT for more than 20 years and recently retiring from FORSA as Head of Communications after seven years at the helm.

Taking a leave of absence in 2018, Bernard took on the role of Director of Communications and Media with the campaign to re-elect Michael D. Higgins, which delivered a successful national presidential campaign. Bernard was recently appointed to the national executive of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) bringing his communications expertise to the highest decision-making body within the trade union movement.

A long-time member of the PRII, he has championed the Institute and profession throughout his career. Bernard was awarded a PRII Fellowship in 2009.
