This course is being delivered using a blended online approach. This will consist of:
(i) Live online lectures to discuss core material;
(ii) A series of pre-recorded video lectures which participants can watch in their own time (the videos will be posted on a dedicated course resources webpage and then students will have the opportunity to discuss the content during the following week's live online session);
(iii) In-person session at a Dublin venue;
(iv) Self-directed learning with dedicated course resources webpage.
Assessment is comprised of two elements:

Mark O’Toole is an award-winning communication professional with over 15 years experience in providing media relations services to companies primarily in the technology sector. Previously he was a journalist.
He has worked with companies ranging from venture-backed start-ups to scale-ups to multinational companies. His work has been primarily focussed on international media, although he is also well known in the Irish technology and business ecosystem.
He was press lead at the Web Summit between 2013 to 2015, where he negotiated partnerships with CNBC, Financial Times, The Guardian and the Irish Independent. He was then Account Director and Chief Strategy Officer at Paul Hayes’s Beachhut PR, as it scaled to one of the larger specialised agencies in Ireland. He was the first employee and European lead at 150Bond for 7 years.
Mark has received multiple accolades for his work, including the PRII Young Communication Professional of the Year award in 2016, as well as Awards for Excellence for Corporate PR for his work at NewsWhip in 2017, and Long-Term PR Campaign for his work on Pointy in 2020. More recently, he was named as one of DMG Media’s 40 under 40 PR professionals in Ireland.
He is also heavily involved in the Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) and is a member of the PRII’s working group on Artificial Intelligence in PR. He is also on the advisory board of Grow Remote, and a mentor to the Patch Accelerator, for young people and Dogpatch Labs.
