Mediahuis Ireland has appointed Liz Kearney as the new editor of the Sunday Independent. Since May 2023, Liz has been the Group Head of Features, leading a team of editors and writers for Ireland’s top digital and print products.
Her previous roles include editor of the Sunday Independent magazine People & Culture, daily features editor for the Irish Independent and The Herald, and production executive and writer for the Irish Independent.

Nick Miller, government press secretary for former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, has recently been appointed as a speechwriter for European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. He will be part of a team responsible for drafting and editing speeches for Dr von der Leyen at the EU's Berlaymont headquarters in Brussels.
He was associated with the Dublin-based Rockwood Public Affairs as a Consultant.

Mary Regan has been appointed as the political editor of the Irish Independent, overseeing political coverage for both the Irish Independent and the Sunday Independent. She is the first female political editor in the newspaper's history. With over a decade of experience, Mary previously worked as a political reporter for RTÉ and has also been associated with the Irish Examiner and UTV Ireland.
