Why PRs use the ‘Pray and Spray’ approach.

In a recent article for Strategic Magazine, James McCann, CEO of ClearStory International and Everhaze, addressed an opinion piece by Jay Rayner, the restaurant critic for the Observer, a UK-based newspaper. Rayner had criticised PR professionals for their use of the ‘Pray and Spray’ approach to sending out releases, sparking significant debate online.

McCann acknowledged the overwhelming volume of one-way email traffic to journalists' inboxes, which has contributed to damaging relationships between the PR and media industries. James shared the reasons for ‘panic pitching’ and explained the dramatic changes in how the PR industry operates today.
