Targets, workload, deadlines – what stresses PR pros the most?
The research, which surveyed participants in the agency's stress management programme, ‘Under the Tree’, in 2023 and 2024 in the UK, has unveiled some eye-opening statistics.
The findings highlight three main sources of stress:
Business Challenges: This category emerged as the most significant stressor. Within this, 'internal communications and culture' was identified as the leading subcategory, affecting 27% of respondents. This indicates a pressing need for better internal communication strategies and a healthier workplace culture.
Workload Challenges: Coming in second, 23% of professionals cited workload as a major stressor. The constant pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects is taking a toll on their well-being.
Client-Agency Relationship: The third major stressor, reported by 19% of respondents, revolves around the dynamics between clients and agencies. Navigating these relationships can be challenging and often adds to the stress levels of communications professionals.
These insights underscore the importance of addressing these stressors to improve the overall well-being and productivity of those in the communications sector.
